Cultural preservation is intertwined with the establishment of unions, riots, protests and world war II. With notable individuals who led movements to improve Mexican-American relations.

CHAPTER 13 | SUMMARY!
Within this writing I reflect to provide a summary of “Chapter 13 New York, ca. 1920s-’60s” from the book entitled “EL NORTE” I found this chapter refreshing to learn of the evolutions and blending of cultural infusions with arts, poetry and dance. Puerto Rican, Cuban and Spanish migration to New York led to the creation of the idea of Hispanidad, that aimed to create a shared Latin American cultural heritage.

The U.S. continued to gain territory with wars. President Roosevelt became philosophical about the act of war. The claiming of territory was known as American Imperialism.

I also found unsettling moments within this chapter, yet to find moment of reflections to connect to the present day, and the importance of the title of a nation as the United States of America.
