CHAPTER 14 | SUMMARY!

Within this writing I reflect upon Chapter 14 from the book entitled: “EL NORTE.” The desire to conserve the cultural heritages of the Spanish-Mexican past are noted with the arts, film and progression of the Hollywood film industry that is known as the Mexican Golden Age of Cinema. Cultural preservation is intertwined with the establishment of unions, riots, protests and world war II. With notable individuals who led movements to improve Mexican-American relations.

CHAPTER 13 | SUMMARY!

Within this writing I reflect to provide a summary of “Chapter 13 New York, ca. 1920s-’60s” from the book entitled “EL NORTE” I found this chapter refreshing to learn of the evolutions and blending of cultural infusions with arts, poetry and dance. Puerto Rican, Cuban and Spanish migration to New York led to the creation of the idea of Hispanidad, that aimed to create a shared Latin American cultural heritage.

Within this writing I summarize Chapter 12 from the book entitled “EL NORTE.” To ease the process I felt that this chapter could be dived into two parts, the first pertains to the Mexican Revolution and the second with for the reimagining and revival of the Spanish Missions in California. Within this writing I provide a summary of points of interests within this chapter 11 of the book entitled “EL NORTE.” II was particularly interested in the events that led to the Cuban-Spanish war, and that even as war took place the United States was not able to acquire Cuba. The U.S. continued to gain territory with wars. President Roosevelt became philosophical about the act of war. The claiming of territory was known as American Imperialism.

Within this writing I reflect upon Chapter 7 of my book reading entitled: “EL NORTE.” I especially became interested within the history of Plaza de Armas located in what was formally the Spanish province of Louisiana. I also found unsettling moments within this chapter, yet to find moment of reflections to connect to the present day, and the importance of the title of a nation as the United States of America.
