I reflected upon my previous writings, the connections of the embroidery design, entitled as America’s Bougainvillea; current events that may not be at the forefront of the main-stream news media, but are fluttering amongst political discussions.
Latin / South America – I reflected upon the presence of the three great powers: The United States of America, Russia and China. While the presence of each is perceived as quite different, notably; it can certainly be argued that the Russia and China presence is strategically designed. While I would like to withhold from elaborating upon this point for now – I connected the COVID-19 pandemic with evidence that is did emerge from China, and the scholarly scientific communities predictions of rapid and rising health threats in Latin / South America.
As vulnerable countries in Latin / South America are inclined and have established partnerships with Russia and China. Countries such as these should be weary that they don’t become targets to future infectious diseases as forms and acts of bioterrorism, given that China has established control of the Panama Canal and fifty-five ports in Latin / South America (Farah & Yates, 2020, p.56). That could potentially ease the transportation of substances in and out of the region(s). This is also where I believe that a strategic focus should remain and further be established by The United States of America, territories and the Americas. For safety, security and regional concern, but this also means cooperation is required from Latin / South American countries.
While China and Russia actively engage with their own agendas in Latin / South America, I appreciated that the United States of America is positioned with proximity, Cultural and Historical links that are the additive for the competitive and geographical advantage over China and Russia.

Even if nations such as Russia and China feel that America’s attention shifted to Afghanistan, the Middle-East and Eastern Hemispheric missions post 9|11, in my view; links with the Eastern Hemisphere will always remain in particular with respect to the holy and historic lands of Christ.
