I would like to join our national leaders and in-particular thank Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) for pointing our direction to the Independence Day of Guyana as celebrated on May 26th 1966, that formerly became a Republic on 23rd of February 1970. I appreciate this learning opportunity and it is my first time writing upon Guyana’s Independence. Guyana is a nation located in Latin / South America, with neighbour countries of Venezuela, Columbia, Brazil and Suriname, and gained its Independence from Britain in 1966. Today the nation resembles its British and Dutch Colonial past. I appreciated to learn of the natural resources that are pertinent to Guyana, as well as its desire to preserve habitats and bio-diversity. On this day of May 26th 2022, I wish the people of Guyana a very happy 56 years of Sovereignty!
