Mardi Gras, Galveston, TX 2020!

On February 22nd 2020, the Knights of Momus parade took place as part of the Galveston Island Mardi Gras Parade. There were beautiful colors, music, laughter, joy, happiness. Individuals embracing the moment, with the celebration of a historic Galveston tradition. It is difficult to believe that such happiness took place, and then all of a sudden we are now faced with the coping of the Corona Virus crisis, which has taken a toll upon human life and livelihoods. Many have been forced to work from home, have suffered job losses, as well as the young children who are home from school, trying to understand what is taking place. Whilst these adjustments or what many may even think of as inconveniences to life have caused, the greatest gratefulness that we can have is: life! Embrace and be thankful that we are living, breathing, and have the gift of life, amidst this International / Global crisis.

To offer hope and as a reminder that this crisis shall pass, I decided to work on my art piece that was inspired by the Galveston Mardi Gras that took place in Texas, USA. With the thankfulness of all who are doing their part. I wanted this art piece to serve as a reminder and hope, that there will again be singing, dancing, entertainment, social gatherings. Humans will not be afraid to walk amongst each other. Will share each others joys, laughter, celebrations. Human beings are social beings, the desire for interconnectedness. The utilization of phone calls, messages, messaging apps, video conversations, or social media interactions has proved this well.

It takes great mental strength and stamina to turn towards the internal self, but it does not mean that humans don’t possess this ability. We enter a world within a nakedness, will leave with a nakedness. Lets be grateful, thankful and remember what a true honor it is

to serve one another, each-other with love and humility. Truly the honor is mine! Lots of love! #ShaziBlog #Arts #MardiGras #Galveston #Texas #CoronaHope #MentalHealthAndWellness
