The truth is that I was interested to write and reflect upon the recent Mr. Elon Reeve Musk, FRS., interview with The Babylon Bee that I learned is a Media and News Company in the United States of America. The interview was held at the Twitter headquarters (HQ) as we learn that Musk first entered the Twitter HQ carrying a sink, with the hopes of being let into the building, which actually does explain Musk’s recent tweet. With his actual acquisition of Twitter for $44 Billion as CEO and now turned Executive Chair and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
The conversation was important given the drama associated with lawsuits, the legalities, and also banned accounts. As now The Babylon Bee is restored with the ability to tweet. The restoring of this account reminded me of Former President Donald Trump’s Twitter censorship from the then CEO Mr. Jack Dorsey.
I appreciated Mr. Musk’s emphasis placed upon the importance of free-speech, divergent views and opinions, that possess the ability to shift opposing views to an agreeable nature. I reflected upon the limits or what is the scope of expressing a view, opinion, upon a platform such as Twitter? In-relation to cyberbullying, or when interpersonal relations converge with private personal relations upon a public space?
While I know that the human tendency to protect what one believes in, wrath and anger can erupt, and even the most calm and reserved person will break-out to tell the other, and one can become the very same in expressions and tones of abusive language. Now I am not saying that one is right or the other is wrong, but I am conscious and critical of human usage of social media across all platforms, with the ability to ruin relations, especially with miscommunications, hence; the irony of much needed communications.
This can also happen at the human to human level, where emotions such as jealousy and anger get in the way. And in an instant what one was seeking to create such as peace and harmony, that bloom from the bonds of love are dismantled. Nevertheless, what God seeks to create and keep will always come to life.
We can turn towards what is the aim of social media platforms, and in our contexts of Twitter: we think about leverage. Where one can possess the ability of reaching a mass audience with one single tweet. Where individuals / organizations within sports, entertainment, politics, non-profit organizations, or anyone who seeks to gain impact from Twitter media platform.
As capitol gain exceeds or not from the usage of Twitter, it is then when companies such as Twitter may seek a price. This is also where we see new recent costs associated with Twitter, such as the blue verified checkmark or subscription. New features such as Community notes, at the moment that I have not had a chance to explore. This thought also connects to keeping free speech, free.
I appreciate certain topics of interests such as the politics of the day, from the United States of America’s, Republicans, Democrats, the latest happenings from The White House and so on. Political events that can truly function to gain International / Global reach. However., I am thankful and I am also cautious of public political contributions, especially from an independent publisher as me. In-particular exposed to vulnerability, associated with Global terrorism, domestic and foreign.
Future Forward: I think there should be room for optimism. In-particular to the possibility of technology features and how these could progress and improve. I always prefer simplicity, and think that performance, improvements, enhancements, should always come with ease.
With respect to Musk’s idea of rising to the top to fall that was mentioned, I think that the view from the top is very beautiful. But the top per se, is also where the pillars, hence, foundations must continue to remain strengthened. Just as one builds a pyramid, all the pieces of every level try to hold the top-tip together. I also would respectfully suggest that the idea of the fall, is thought of as: we only rise to lift up others. Thus, in my view: an Earthly blessing for humankind.
