I would like to welcome and thank the Heads of States’, leaders, and all who participated in the Nato Summit 2023, welcome and thank you! The Nato Summit took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Vilnius is the largest Capitol city of Lithuania.
I reflected upon Sweden and Finland’s membership to Nato. With the application process that was initially discussed in the Spain Summit of 2022. Hungary and Turkey were also encouraged to conclude their ratification processes. As mentioned by President Joseph R. Biden JR., there’s a certain timeframe for the applications where countries can apply to NATO.
During the Press Conference Speech with President Sauli Niinistö of the Republic of Finland, President Biden reaffirmed the USA’s commitment to NATO. This thought could be linked to the ongoing war in Ukraine, where there are internal political tensions surrounding America’s responses to the Russia and Ukraine invasion / war. Where the question again is turned to – who do you stand with? But can there ever be a dichotomy as such? However, I think that when a President is travelling abroad to represent a country, it is vital for Politicians to know what is appropriate or not, for the safety and security of America.
The question and even the remarks of leaders can be deemed as ironic or contradictory, when there is bloodshed happening on all sides. To reckon with the previous comments of Senator Kennedy, with the concern of an immoral war that Governments have created for the division of civilians, lands and much more.
With respect to Ukraine’s membership to NATO, in my view this might not be the right time for this kind of discussion? Especially as Russia and Ukraine know very well of historical links that bind nations together. As Russia launched an aggressive attack upon its ex-Soviet nation, it sends a clear message to Ukraine such as: You are mine?
But we can see how allied nations cease or limit Russia’s claim upon Ukraine, given at present Ukraine is an Independent country. There must be some-kind of resolve found. As we can see how social strategy of COVID-19 and the Ukraine-Russia war tries to place limits / control upon individuals. I am still confounded that organizations such as the United Nations, NATO, and International Law’s have not intervened to reconcile the nations of Ukraine and Russia. But we also know there is much more to the discussion such as Energy Dependence or Pipelines.
It is with these thoughts I continue to thank you for your participations in Europe. I decided to include the picture of a Vilnius Unesco Heritage site for the header image of this post, where I was also reminded of all the Historical Spanish Missions in the USA, that deserve to be preserved, or even recognized by UNESCO.
