REFLECTIONS – SAINT VALENTINE’S DAY AND ASH WEDNESDAY.

Upon February 14th, 2024 Saint Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday eclipsed. I found that both days being on the same day is interesting and that some religious clarity was needed upon how to celebrate and commemorate, thus; maybe we can simply say that both religious days are commemoration days, because Saint Valentine was a Catholic Martyr Saint. However, what I think is that the celebrations of love, human relations, or the gift of the heart and so on, is especially to keep alive what Saint Valentine fought for – love. And that the eclipse of one commemorative day or the other does not negate the other, but it may infer which takes precedence, given that Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lenten Season. This kind of questioning is quite normal. It is important to have religious knowledge from religious practitioners, faith leaders, to formulate how individuals will choose to participate. It is with these words I thank Catholic faith leaders who keep the faith alive. Jesus Christ, I Love you.
