I would like to take the time to congratulate Harris County Houston Sports Authority for the 2023 ring presentation ceremony. I first learned of this event from the repost shared from Mr. Fred Cuellar, as I was happy to welcome the 2023 and previous events from HCHSA.
Upon the 14th of September 2023 the HCHSA held a ring presentation ceremony for: Bruce Matthews (Houston Texans), Elvin Hayes (Houston Cougars), and Calvin Murphy (Houston Rockets). The rings are designed and presented by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Fred Cuellar of Diamond Cutters International (DCI). Congratulations and thank you for sharing this event from Houston, Texas. I appreciate that the ring designs are created unique to the Athlete, as this is truly creating a history of living legends in Houston.
I appreciated the idea to have the art of Opie Otterstad featured at the 2023 Houston Sports Hall of Fame class. Otterstad is an artist that specializes in the art of sports figures who showcased his art of the 2023 Houston Sports Hall of Fame Class members.
During this event it was also announced that Mr. Sylvester Turner, Mayor of Houston will receive the Lifetime Civic Champion Award especially for his impact on sports in the city during his time as Mayor. This is the first-ever Lifetime Civic Champion Award. Congratulations Mayor Turner in advance, I absolutely support you as the recipient especially as I know how much hard-work, love and dedication that you have put forth into Houston, Texas. And I must say that I miss seeing you working alongside Mr. Art Acevedo, Former Chief of Police Austin and Houston, Texas, and Chief. Past President Major Cities Chiefs. But I am grateful for your strong leadership of Houston, tireless round-the-clock efforts that keep Houston the greatest of Space Cities!!
It it with these thoughts I would like to thank you and share the following art that emerged and was inspired from deep in the heart and center of Houston, Texas during my visit upon Hurricane Houston. I always imagined this art to be framed and presented to the City of Houston, Texas. 🙂 But for now it always is dedicated to you. Thank you!!!
