Spiritual Cleansing?

As we commemorate, celebrate and keep faith-based practices alive, we can be grateful that technological outlets exist to allow for services to be delivered within the comfort of our own homes. But then we can think about what we are prone to loosing from becoming a virtual world / virtual reality. There is great benefit to the solemn, silent prayer of the heart, which can also be thought of as a form of meditation; the spirits connection to source, spirit, God / higher consciousness. But there is also great benefit to entering a congregation or prayer that is offered within an institution, for those who desire to do so. The mind at prayer becomes a mastermind at prayer, connected with many other minds. People attending also feel a sense of belonging, fulfilled, and the enhanced purpose of belief. Religious organization also becomes a form of social organization. This thought can be transpired to all religious, spiritual institutions, sports and fan bases, entertainment, education or any type of organization that an individual joins.

As we are dealing with the Coronavirus, the global / international health pandemic, we are called to think deeper. Observe the emptiness of institutions. Think about our own faith. What is faith, belonging? Is it just an outward form of expression, going to a place of worship? Maybe the practice of faith does include this – but the unfolding of current events allow one to look within, and understand that faith begins within. A form of spiritual / religious cleansing is taking place. We might not possess perfect behaviour, or practice faith within the constructs of institution, but an inch of true faith is regarded better than artificial faith. We can also say – who are we to judge one’s faith, why should we? But the case for this type of judgement happens very often, even when one must understand that faith is also a personal act / observance. And also a balance between how we navigate the world, become a part of society with the faith that one carries.

There is room for this type of reflection intertwined with current events. We can learn from virtual shifts. How virtual shifts can also be an addition to the in-person congregations, especially when we hear the good news that the Coronavirus, global / international pandemic and health emergency have finally been reduced, contained or eliminated.

Dedication: These thoughts are dedicated to the three major world religions of Judaism, Islam and Christianity. In a timely manner all three faiths are commemorating / celebrating a specific time in their religious calendar:

The intersection of celebration and commemoration from the three faiths is a reminder of the connections and link of the Patriotic Father – Abraham. Maybe the emptiness of all religious institutions, are a mechanism to create religious understanding? To give up the need to be right or wrong.
