WORLD MISSION SUNDAY – 10/22/23.

Upon World Mission Sunday I wondered what I should write and reflect upon especially as the push and pull of World events create a flux, with the same violence and tensions, that leave innocent civilians to bear the costs of decisions that are truly out of our reach. Where we are left with thoughts such as: what is the point? One is simply left to feel a sense of helplessness. However, it is the strength of the human spirit and our desire to survive that strives to propel us forward.

There truly is much suffering in World Nations, Global / International / Hemispheric concerns. I would like to thank Pope Francis who continues to put forth trust in words and dialogue, as a mechanism of meditations for peace efforts for World Mission Sunday 2023.

I was inspired to share the book entitled: “Stones into Schools” that is written by Greg Mortenson for World Mission Sunday. As I read of the woman that is described in the books’ introduction, her patience, desire to read, learn and contribute to the good of society inspired me with her quiet resilience, hope and prayer in God. That someday things would work-out for her according to her heart’s desire and purpose.

The book is written through Greg Mortenson’s experiences of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where he is very well-known for promoting peace with education, creation of schools and humanitarian efforts. The few pages that I read from the introduction, are reflective of push-pull factors, Global / International regional concerns. As I am also very appreciative of your first book entitled: “Three Cups of Tea.”
