REFLECTIONS~BACK TO SCHOOL.

During the summer months if time permits, I especially like to take a break from the reading of scientific journal articles, and kind of pick up something different. This summer is probably not-so different in the sense that everyday I wake-up or during the day and night: we learn of a death or shooting that has happened, or natural / humanitarian disasters that continue. The focus is the hearing of these matters in nothing new, but sad and disheartening for continued occurrences. Which of-course does affect one’s mental health and well-being.

I wish and pray for health, safety of others, who are suffering and grieving. I would like to thank the Biden Administration for helping recovery efforts in Maui, Hawaii, and also to reassert our attention to the crisis and topics of the U.S. Southern Border, Central and South America. Especially from the tragic death of the 11 year’s young girl’s death, Pasadena, Texas, USA. We ask God for forgiveness. Mercy, love and kindness. To ease and settle the natural, human, destructions and grievances.

It is through these challenges I was able to read the essay entitled as: “THE AMERICAN SCHOLAR” from: Ralph Waldo Emerson Selected Essays, Lectures, and Poems (Emerson, 2007, p. 83-102). I appreciated the following quote: “… from private considerations and breathes and lives on public illustrious thoughts. He is the world’s Eye. He is the world’s heart” (2007, p. 94). Especially as a mechanism to continue to read and write, from the challenges as described through the former. The essay can be read and re-read, and also be considered as scientific. There are much descriptions through the metaphoric languages, that truly do evoke the heart, soul and minds eye.

… from private considerations and breathes and lives on public illustrious thoughts. He is the world’s Eye. He is the world’s heart.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson, 2007, p. 94.

The essay is beautifully crafted with topics included as: God, nature, earth, soul, astronomy, heart, poetry, books, letters, flowers and much more. I especially wanted to share Emerson’s thoughts about writing books. While of-course as present there are many ways to publish from the traditional pen to paper, Emerson States: “Each age, it is found must write its own books, or rather each generation for the next succeeding” (p. 87).

“Each age, it is found must write its own books, or rather each generation for the next succeeding”

Ralph Waldo Emerson, 2007, p. 94.

I appreciate that thinking is recognized as a human constitution, that precedes the creation of books. And hope that students. learners, or anyone who desires to preserve the arts as a literacy and literacy of all kinds, possess the ability to carry forth creative expressions. Thank you for such beautiful writing and reminders through this writing Mr. Ralph Waldo Emerson.
