I took the time to reflect upon the social-psychology theory of in-group and out-group theory as I presented a simple description / usage in my previous blog post in the contexts of language. I also thought about the theory as I watched Sergio Perez accept his win at the Mexico Grand Prix that took place on November 7th 2021. The event which also coincided with the week of Dia de los Muertos. And it truly was a celebration of life! As Perez offered his commentary in English, I found it absolutely right for the commentator to request Perez to address the crowds in Spanish too. As he addressed / spoke to the roaring crowds in the Spanish language, the crowds roared and cheered for him even more. This is absolutely a fine example of social groups coming together, surpassing the factor of language, to bind together for supporting a specific individual that the supporters identify with. Through this example also we can also see how this theory is utilized to gain further insights and study of social phenomenon.
It is with these thoughts I would like to offer my congratulations to Sergio Perez who took a third place win, but it actually really did seem as he won. Congratulations to all!!!

Dedication: I would like to dedicate these words to the Inaugural Houston Dia de los Muertos parade, that was overshadowed by the Astroworld tragedy.
Notes: These thoughts were originally hand-written on November 9th 2021.
