On February 22nd 2021 a moment of silence was held for the half a million lives that have been lost from the Coronavirus health pandemic. Whist we can continue to question the accuracy of the numbers, the death toll makes us think about the 9/11 tragedy of the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks, the lives lost and the lives lost from the health pandemic. Although a deeper analysis is required for the effects upon nation, the COVID-19 tragedy allows us to consider a turning point for nation, for a nation that may consider healing. As the COVID-19 pandemic did not only take lives, but it also took away ways of living, livelihoods of many, the financial, economic and health toll, including human freedoms. This idea of the need to heal and how the healing presents is also a choice, but this following song did inspire me to write these words.
