The past couple of weeks we saw a return of conversation – the American political conversation from the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and the Republican National Convention (RNC). With both potential and present President accepting their official nominations. I was curious to watch both pieces of dialogue. The DNC was almost like a back to the future, where we heard from Democrats: Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden. I appreciated what Dr. Jill Biden and former First Lady Michelle Obama had to say. The appreciation was also specially geared for the purposes of their former services as First and Second Lady of the United States of America. I decided not to watch on the day former President Barack Obama spoke, specifically because of the media hype, that he would be utilizing the opportunity to bash the current President. I also tuned in to hear Amy Klobuchar as well.

The stark contrasts of convention settings from video messages, live addresses, to the RNC held at the Charlotte Convention Centre in Charlotte NC. I was actually quite surprised with the contents of the RNC, especially as I heard from Donald Trump Jr’s current girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle. Guilfoyle spoke with much passion. To her point about criminals / illegals that are merging through the souther borders – we have to be careful not to always utilize these kinds of stereotypical ideas, especially where there are real cases. The vulnerable who turn towards the USA for hope and a safe haven.
I appreciated the diversity and representation of the RNC speakers. Especially to reveal the potential of disability / (dis)ability, with inspiring words and life example of Madison Cawthorn. Ethnic representations, as well as the reformations found within those who have been previously convicted. The idea of reformation, being able to forgive and pardon those who truly want to integrate within society is that of reciprocity. Ensuring that societies are kept safe, as well as being able to forgive. Anyone can be reformed, who desires and wishes. It is a matter of choice, decision and determination.

There was also the emphasis upon God and the Nations flag. With respect to the RNC and the DNC we have to remember that those are the forefront are elected for nation. And the representation of nation, which include the symbol of flag – to honor, love and serve ones nation. There is also a reference to God. We could say that one political party or another may decide to place more or less emphasis upon the notion of God. But it is also important to remember that within America, God is merged with state. Which is why we hear the common rhetorics of “God Bless America” or “In God We Trust.” That being said, I felt that it was important to remember that God should not be utilized as a shield to hide behind, especially for dialogues that could unsettle or disrupt. Because if we think about it even God would want humans to become solution based through the very disruptions. There also arises the question: Is and should God be Political?

God is a belief, a choice, a way of life. A balance. A feeling. A love. A God that decides to love.
As the RNC and the DNC ended – I thought about the nomination of Joe Biden and the current renomination of President Trump. Both who possess political experiences / expertise, also to include the financial power of President Trump and family, with the political power of Joe Biden and family. Who and what is right for America? A thought for sure is that one must be able to command themselves in-order to be commander-in-chief. Which is also where we can think about the supports and team members, that are needed in order for a successful presidency and Presidential candidate.
It is with these thoughts I would like to take the opportunity to appreciate and thank all who spoke at the DNC and RNC 2020. Thank you for your passion and committed desire to serve the United States of America. National and International.
