As I was taking the tine to think and reflect upon Dr. Jill Biden’s speech, especially the personification utilized of the microcosm of family to nation; I reflected upon my own thoughts and realized that the thoughts could very well transfer to a classroom question, or academic brain storm, discussion and essay writing question.

I decided to create the following diagrams to illustrate further:
GROUP ACTIVITY: The above image / diagram is a simple starting point to flesh-out and investigate the factors that affect nation, as personified to the unit of family / relationships. Utilize this graphic or a similar graphic for a group brain storm as a starting point.
The following are a series of questions that are utilized for the purposes of furthering discussions.

- How is unity / unification created within a nation?
- What are the similarities and differences of factors that affect family and nation?
Essay Questions:
Why is the personification of family and nation appropriate or not? Utilize the information from the brain storm diagrams, discussion questions to formulate your response.
Within your response discuss why you think Dr. Jill Biden decided to utilize comparisons of family / relationships to that of nation?
How is the comparisons of repairing familial relations to creating national and international unity useful?

- Personification | is a kind of metaphor in which you describe an inanimate object, abstract thing, or non-human animal in human terms.
- Simile | A term where like or as is utilized
As you can see / read from this blog post, my thoughts of inquiry have created / formulated a lesson plan, a topic of debate for a civics / politics class, or even a university lecture, presentation and class. For the purposes of this blog post, I have left the questions and brainstorm open-ended, simply because this inquiry begins with group discussions, thus; minds working together. It must also be noted that this is a very popular metaphor / personification utilized for nation formation and political ideologies.
