On April 27 it is the birthday of former President of the United States of America, President Ulysses S. Grant. I wanted to take a moment to reflect upon his Presidency, life and legacy and was particularly drawn to his Army Military service during America’s Civil War and the Mexican-American War. Raised in Ohio, Former President Grant had four Children together with his loving wife Julia Dent, who became the First Lady during Grant’s Presidency. I was inspired to learn of his background where the family lived in poverty, the sacrifices that husband and wife made for each other to help keep their marriage and family together. The couple were able to succumb to family circumstances and situations to advance Grant’s career, and earn the Republican nomination as President of the United States. Happy Birthday President Ulysses S. Grant. April 27, 1822 – July 23, 1885.
