I wanted to take the time to think and reflect upon my previous thoughts. Whilst I did want to reach a conclusive thought with regards to the current discussion of COVID-19 and the protests, which I have termed as the two narratives. I think that we have reached a point that we could potentially describe as a moment of unity. Where there are chants for “I can’t breathe,” there are also those who are wearing masks, that also say: “I can’t breathe.”

We can think of the two narratives as a cusp. Where a nation at the national and international level faces the real reality of coping with issues that have arisen. Whether we have understood or not, or taken the time to analyze the issues. The fact of the matter is that there is a social consequence. For instance: as states get ready to re-open, they are once again pushed back, because of the rising of cases. Which also once again takes a toll on the public morale, local economies and businesses that have to incur a cost to reopen, close, reopen, close and so on.

There are also the topical issues that have emerged from the George Floyd death and protests. Whilst I have provided commentary / opinions / views about this as well. I believe that at the national level – America is faced with a national recognition of the internal issues that need to be tackled. And a reality. Such as inducing hate, anger and violence that are a cause for further divides.

If the issue of Black Lives Matter as a large scale cause matters, then its also a matter of examining at the micro-levels. In this case – take the larger picture to the smaller levels. Look within the smaller communities / systems to see what can be done to enhance the lives of those who are living at the margins, or supporting a cause that can create results. For instance: We can think about the Flint water crisis in Michigan. How has this circumstance improved or not? Within both narratives we can ask, how have the discussions silenced what else matters. What else matters?
