08.09.2023 : ECUADOR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE ASSASSINATION

My thoughts of love, prayer and condolences to family, friends, relatives, loved ones, the nation of Ecuador, and all who are affected with the assassination of Ecuador’s Presidential candidate, Fernando Villavicencio. Mr. Villavicencio was tragically killed during a presidential rally in Ecuador, as he suffered gunshot wounds to the head. From this incident 9 other individuals were shot, and it is not yet known if they have survived.

Mr. Fernando Villavicencio

Mr. Fernando Villavicencio was a political candidate that was very outspoken in-terms of Gang related violences, state-organized crimes, and drug-related violences. His campaign circled around these topical issues of concern, that are affecting his nation. It is quite natural for political leaders to want for the betterment of society, and the nation that they wish to serve. However, Government and state leaders recognize the limitations posed by crime organizations, but this does not mean to say one is an agreement with the breeding of violences or corruption in communities.

I wish for the healing of political leaders worldwide from this tragedy, the health and safety of communities, and know that this incident will remain in our memory. Especially during the occurrence of Indigenous Peoples Week. An international conference that is being held in Washington DC., USA from August 7-11th, 2023. The Organization of the American States (OAS) member states also include Ecuador. It is also important to note that Cuba was not included in the OAS and will only be considered in the future with dialogue initiated from the Government of Cuba –  Resolution AG/RES.2438 (XXXIX-O/09).  Thank you for your support to continue to raise awareness of critical concerns that affect all the countries of the OAS.

My sympathies to Mr. Villavicencio, may you rest in peace in the Eternal Kingdom of Heaven, amen.
