On March 14th 2023 a Russian fighter Jet took aim and struck down an unmanned U.S. aircraft that was in the International airspace into the Black sea. This action aimed to unsettle the safety and security of the United States of America at home and abroad.
As we are reflective of these actions, I am grateful for responses that will help to secure, minimize and assess future risks. The action also alerts the current U.S. administration upon its role within the Ukraine and Russia invasion / war. While the provisions of military equipment, tanks, artillery, air defence and monetary aid is extensive, the point is: what if the United States is pushed into war actions? And essentially would be forced to pick a side, as we are also mindful that during ABC’s News exclusive with David Muir President Biden did say “that the U.S. ‘would respond’ and referred to sanctions other countries have received after supporting Russia” (2023).
Having said this we are also reflective of a Republican response that was provided by Florida’s 46th Governor Ron Desantis, who has said that defending Ukraine is not America’s vital interest, on the contrary to views offered from Senator Marco Rubio (R-FLA), Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND). Governor DeSantis has taken a step upon the tip of the iceberg if you will; to offer a view and opinion that does not fit with what everyone else is saying.
It is a moment to contemplate, given that World leaders have become weary of the Russia-Ukraine war, when it will end, or reach some-kind of resolve? Governor DeSantis has taken a position that aims to put America first, that echoes the Trump era slogans / Presidency. But of course balancing acts are needed, especially if one hopes to prevent war-torn actions.
I commend Governor DeSantis for evoking a revolutionary dialogue, however; your word of course requires support from political leaders, and especially those who are versed-well in-terms of national intelligence and security, such as Senior Senator for Florida Marco Rubio (R-FLA) and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. As well as other counterparts that want to support these views.
It should also be noted that while I am appreciative of the services of Previous Presidents or those who desire to run again, in the contexts of this blog-post these views are not aimed to support President Trumps re-election.
