I would like to take the time to wish all who celebrate Jamaican Independence a very happy Jamaica Independence Day. Jamaica is a former Spanish colony that was claimed for the Spanish Crown by Christopher Columbus and was later claimed by Britain. Jamaica’s Independence was granted from the United Kingdom on August 6th 1962. Happy Jamaica Independence Day!
