I have often meditated upon the words “In God We Trust,” which is also the National American motto. I debated that the words should be written as: “In God I Trust.” After trying to understand or think about “I” or “We” I realized that both are interconnected with one another, essentially we cannot have “we” without “I.” Just as plural noun / adjectives becomes plural, with singular noun / adjectives. This dissection / analysis is necessary to further understand why the words of “In God We Trust” are written as such, going back to the symbolism of the cross, and the inscription above the head of Jesus on the cross; I.N.R.I. This is a latin acronym translated to “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” Revealing that it is important to recognize that the “we” and only become “we” with I. In God We Trust.
